“You can't manage something you can't measure. In this regard, Azure already offers us everything”

Galata Transportation, an international transportation and logistics company with 25 years of experience, takes its digital transformation processes one step further with MyAdmin. Realizing the security vulnerabilities with MyAdmin gamifications, Galata Transportation was able to prevent them with Microsoft Azure services and complete the ISO27001 processes that are critical for them without any problems.

Galata Transportation Information Systems Manager Murat Kürtün answered the questions of our Marketing Manager Mert Tüfekçioğlu in our Microsoft Teams interview. Galata Transportation, which has been actively using cloud technologies for many years, emphasized that it better understood how efficient its services on Microsoft Azure are in its on-prem processes: “We were having problems with the on-prem services we used before. These problems are security, cost, maintenance requirement and so on. We had a hard time controlling that cost because it was on-prem,” said Kürtün and he expresses how they value security with these words: “We are a company with foreign partners. Regulations in the European Union are also very strict. For this reason, Azure solved many of our problems. It is very advantageous compared to on-prem and has helped us a lot in terms of cost, maintenance and being able to follow the System.”

Achieved full compliance with the regulations

Thanks to the Security Center, MyAdmin users can detect internal security vulnerabilities and take actions against this problem. While using on-prem service, Galata Transport met with many security services of Microsoft Azure during the application modernization process and implemented these services in its companies. Eliminating security vulnerabilities in accordance with international regulations was a critical step for Galata Transportation. At this point, Microsoft Azure security services came to their rescue.

“We use many services such as Private Endpoint, Web Application Firewall, Private DNS because we have a certificate that we need to obtain, and we renew it regularly. This is ISO27001, a security related certification. Frankly, we progressed this certification process much more easily thanks to Azure.” said Murat Kürtün and shared tips on how Microsoft Azure services modernize their applications.

Gained scalable, cost-effective and secure modern infrastructure

In addition to the more modern working environments, lower costs, and regulatory compliance that Galata Transport has achieved thanks to Microsoft Azure services, their interest in MyAdmin's Azure Services and Security Center is also quite significant.

Thanks to Azure Services, companies can view their active Azure consumption, obtain resource or service-based comparisons and reports, separate invoices by source, subscription and tags, benefit from technical support services, and achieve all of this from a single screen. “Actually, we follow all of these scalability, cost and security issues that I mentioned from the beginning of the conversation through MyAdmin,” Murat Kürtün says and continues like this: “MyAdmin provides us with all the breakdowns we need on the Azure side. We can examine our regional or service-based consumption in details and see many details such as how much we have used this month or how many licenses we have. This is a software that answers our questions.”

In addition, thanks to the Security Center, users can easily monitor the current Microsoft Security Score while increasing internal security awareness. With gamification, this whole process becomes even more enjoyable. “With this gamification, we saw our vulnerabilities on Azure and closed them,” said Murat Kürtün. Previously, he underlined that his current applications are open to the outside world and stated that there is a security vulnerability. About this, “The software we use is software that can be accessed from anywhere. This situation, of course, also creates security problems. Of course, we solved all this thanks to Azure. MyAdmin also enabled us to monitor the entire process and manage all costs” he said.
